Performance Tip
Did you know? When a female is under stress the oxytocin decreases in her body. The way she de-stresses is to TALK to someone who cares. This releases happy hormones in her body and helps her feel better. We know this innately don’t we? It explains why females will naturally call a friend if they are upset.
When a male is under stress his cortisol levels rise. He needs to de - stress by increasing his testosterone levels … by DOING something! This is why males will often go to their ‘cave’ eg the garage, shed and ‘tinker’, or will go for a drive. They might also sit and watch TV usually sports. Studies have shown that even just watching sport on TV increases testosterone levels in males and helps them de-stress.
To perform effectively under stress, females need to communicate and collaborate and males need action and achievement. Understanding this, allows us to support ourselves in exactly the way we need most now, as well as allowing and assisting those around us to do the same. It means we can motivate ourselves and our team to perform at peak levels now, even under challenging conditions.
