Performance Tip

During January, several of our Life Performance presenters were fortunate to work with participants from the County Fire Authority, in one of their key personal development programs for future leaders in the organisation. The program is held once a year, and entails three days of intense leadership skills, then seven days in the bush, where they participate in ‘survivor’ like activities.

At their graduation dinner, participants were asked to share what the program meant to them. One of the younger participants spoke about climbing mountains. She said the hardest thing she found was walking for hours a day and most of it seemed to be uphill. She said they scaled many ‘mountains’ over the seven days and what she had learned was that at some point, they would always reach the top, the view was amazing and it became so much easier when they walked down the other side.

Sometimes in the past , we may have had days, weeks or months where all we seemed to do was walk uphill, and we may have become tired, flat or discouraged. It’s great to remember that at some point, we do reach the top of the mountain. Then we can see, hear and experience the magnificent view and know it’s much easier walking from here on.

Have a great week!
