Performance Tip
Your unconscious mind cannot tell the difference between imagination and reality. When you imagine something happening, your unconscious mind thinks it has actually occurred. Athletes use this concept to imagine an end result they want, such as winning a gold medal or scoring the winning goal.
So when you praise someone else or think positive things about them or talk about them in a positive way, your unconscious mind thinks you are talking about yourself. This is why it can feel, look and sound so good to give someone else praise.
Alternatively, if you gossip about someone, put them down, give them dirty looks or physically exclude them, your unconscious mind thinks you are doing that to yourself. And guess how it looks sounds and feels for you? Really bad! So be aware of the feedback you give others, as it is indirectly what you give yourself.
Can you really afford to waste your energy putting yourself down and affecting your performance? You might choose to be uplifting and positive in your thoughts, manner and the way you see others, so that YOU look, sound and feel great now. Only if that’s important to you of course.
Can you help make a teenager's Christmas a happy one by donating even one of the following?
A good friend of mine is Manager of Berry Street Victoria, who support children and adolescents at risk. She writes, "We are seeking donations this year for adolescents aged 10yr- 16yrs. All are living away from family, and their backgrounds include histories of severe abuse, trauma and disadvantage. We plan for a special Christmas in care this year with all the trimmings. Amongst them we have Goths, Emos, Skaters, Princesses, Theatrical artistic types. As you will be aware, our young people do not enjoy the usual outings and holidays that children who reside with their families can enjoy. This year we hope will be different.Thank you so much. "
Some of the gifts teenagers are excited to receive include:
- movie tickets
- music vouchers
- clothing vouchers
- DVD vouchers
- gift vouchers
- makeup
- hats
- t-shirts
- play station games
- scrap booking/materials
- board games
- art supplies
- beach supplies eg towels, boogey boards, hats, rashies etc. as we would also like to be able to equip some of them for days at the beach this year
To donate please email Amanda Smillie at asmillie@berrystreet.org.au
They are amazing young people and your support in making Christmas really 'awesome' would not go unnoticed!

Have a happy week!
