Performance Tip

Did you know? In the written form of the Chinese language, ‘crisis’ is made up of two characters. The first character is ‘danger’ and the second is ‘opportunity’.

In the eastern world, crisis is traditionally viewed as an opportunity to overcome potential danger and step around potential obstacles. Experiencing a 'crisis’ gives us an opportunity for learning, for growth and for new beginnings.

Sometimes, in the middle of a difficulty or crisis, it may not be easy to see, hear or move past the danger and find the opportunity within. Is there something in your life that is difficult? Maybe it’s a work crisis, or a health one, yours or that of someone close to you. Here’s an opportunity for you to find the solution hidden in something difficult in your life.

There are questions you can ask yourself to easily and gracefully move through difficulty now. I use questions like these in my clinic with clients. It always amazes me how asking the right questions at the right time can take someone from chaos and confusion to clarity, so quickly.

This set of five questions takes ONE MINUTE to ask and answer and could change your life for the better. Remember you are speaking directly to your unconscious mind which holds the problem…and the solution…so say or write down the very first thing that comes to mind when you ask yourself each question. Have fun!

  1. What’s great about this? (If this is really hard to answer then ask yourself: What could be great about this?)
  2. What’s not perfect yet?
  3. What am I willing to do to make it the way I want it?
  4. What am I willing to no longer do to make it the way I want it?
  5. How can I do what’s necessary to get the job done and enjoy the process?

Has this helped you solve a problem?
